Developing the financial capability skills of our future generation is a BIG challenge for everyone involved in the education sector.
Wise Money Owl was set up as a direct response to educators and community based project leaders, requiring the external skills and knowledge to bring this subject to life in school, colleges, universities and projects within communities.
Developing the financial capability skills of our future generation is a BIG challenge for everyone involved in the education sector.
Our entire team of dedicated financial advisors love working with children and young adults aged between nine and twenty-four, on this subject. Where possible, the team use role-play to bring the learning to life.
Our unique “so what” project has now been running with great success across all age groups. The project looks to embed change in the children, rather than simply leave them with advice, that may be lost on the day. How does it work?
1. We deliver an interactive one hour session with the children and leave them with the tools to look at their own lives and how they currently interact with money.
2. We ask them to e-mail the team via the site, their plans and ideas for how they are going to change.
3. The team choose the child who has made the biggest effort to change their own life that month. We then interview the parents and photograph the child. That child’s story then features on our student on the month page.
From this process, we now have several children who are:
Running household budgets for mum and dad;
Children who have moved bank accounts to get higher rates of interest on their savings;
Children and families who are now active members of charities;
Children who are mentoring other children under the age of ten within primary schools;
Children who are now developing business ideas after being inspired by teenage millionaires briefing;
We also help schools set-up enterprise days or weeks, by working with their local community.
In addition, we run retirement planning workshops, and adviser clinics in schools, colleges and universities at the request of the leadership teams.
Do you have a requirement to teach groups about understanding financial capability, money matters, bank accounts, investing risk and return, budgeting, or require sources of information? If yes, then contact us for advice.
All of our team are fully qualified financial advisers, with full enhanced CRB certification. They all have experience in working with children between the ages of 9 - 24, delivering informative and exciting workshops.
We can design and run bespoke sessions based upon the needs of the children or establishment, or simply use our template one hour session. In addition, course material is available to use by your own team and we can offer training or workshops to enable them to develop those skills in-house.
The website also has generic financial advice for educators or the general public with a list of informative websites that can help you learn more.
All members of our team are regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). They are able to offer an initial complimentary review to assess your current financial situation and advise you on the best possible path to meet your individual needs. This advice is offered under their own company who will be independent and fully regulated by the FSA.
The advisers can give advice on: savings, investments, pensions, retirement planning, child trust funds, mortgages, equity release, and business planning including: protection; succession planning; protection and investing business assets. Please read the section independent financial advice before proceeding.
Wise Money Owl is NOT regulated by the Financial Services Authority and therefore does not offer financial services or investment advice.
